Set in the heart of Dublin’s thriving docklands with a unique frontage to the Grand Canal Dock, this exciting new landmark development transforms the Dublin skyline and surrounding urban landscape. The development is a combination of new build and refurbished space within the industrial heritage buildings on site, creating a pleasant and lively new city quarter. It includes 3 new landmark buildings comprising approximately 36,851m2 of office, residential, retail and cultural space and accommodates up to 2,500 workers.
SURFASOLOGY were appointed as a waterproofing specialist with a task to waterproof a 3,000m2 podium deck designed to include a water feature, walkways, and a sitting area.
When working on a waterproofing design, SURFASOLOGY collaborate closely with the architects and engineers over the project to understand the needs and key objectives. For this project, our technical department proposed a cementitious waterproof coating solution.
Upstands were detailed with fillets using structural repair mortar (Maxrite 500). Waterproofing of the podium deck was achieved by applying two coats of a flexible cementitious waterproof coating (Maxseal Flex) with a layer of a fibre-reinforced mesh (Drizoro Mesh), which provided a root-resistant surface.
All the works were successfully completed in accordance with EN 1504 and BS 8102.
